Psychological Services

I have been lucky to be involved in the behavioral health community for over 20 years and have been working as a licensed psychologist in Georgia since 2018.   My education in psychology took both traditional and non-traditional paths, and included philosophy, psychoanalysis, and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, alongside the experience of working directly with individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges in multiple contexts and settings.  These experiences fostered a humble and curious approach, allowing me to learn interventions and techniques that could be tailored to the unique needs of each individual I treat. I offer psychological testing, interventions for insomnia, and comprehensive psychotherapy. I focus on attentive listening and personalized care to help you define and meet your treatment goals.

Psychotherapy

Personalized Intervention

I approach therapy as an opportunity to explore and clarify what direction you want your life to take and to help you build the capacity to get where you want to go. I appreciate the ways that each person brings a rich history along with their current challenges and I have found that taking the time to understand that history - its repetitions, its joys and sorrows, and, especially, its surprises - can help us to find the best path forward.

Because my own journey to psychology as a profession was varied and took some delightful detours off the beaten path, I have become adept at integrating multiple treatment approaches and interventions to tailor treatment to the individual in front of me.  Sessions with me may include talking through your history, learning and practicing a new coping skill, clarifying your values, or thinking together about what may be driving problems in your relationships, job, or school.  We will work together to make a plan for you that fits your goals and helps you achieve them.

Insomnia

Targeted Treatment

Sleep is one of the most important elements of mental & physical health and also one of the first physical functions impacted by stress. Insomnia can develop as a chronic form of sleep disturbance leading to difficulties falling asleep and/or staying asleep, and can include early waking and feeling like your sleep is not of good quality.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends behavioral therapy as a first line intervention for chronic insomnia* and, in particular, recommends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i) as an effective intervention for this type of sleep disorder.**

I provide CBT-i in a six to eight week format following an initial evaluation. The interventions include:

  • Individualized sleep behavior assessment

  • Sleep scheduling and tracking

  • Managing environmental triggers

  • Evaluating beliefs about sleep

  • Relaxation techniques

  • Stress management techniques

Testing

Comprehensive Assessments

Psychological assessment can provide insight into psychological and/or cognitive functioning, clarify diagnosis, or identify new avenues for treatment. Individuals may seek out themselves or be referred for psychological testing because their medical or psychiatric practitioner has questions about how to tailor treatment to their individual needs, to determine why a current treatment plan is not having the expected benefit, or because they want confirmation of a suspected diagnosis.

A typical assessment includes an in-depth clinical interview, a review of relevant treatment records from previous & current providers, one to two testing sessions, and a feedback discussion. The process typically takes four to six weeks to complete.

I provide psychological assessment services for adults.

Fees & Insurance

I am currently in network with Aetna, Optum(UHC), Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Medicare.  For individuals with other insurance providers, I can generate a superbill for you to request reimbursement via out of network benefits.

Self-pay rate: $195 per session or hour of testing; $250 for initial evaluation. I offer a sliding scale based on need.
